1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using GhostWriter (the "Application") or visiting our website at justghostwriter.com (the "Website"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of service

GhostWriter is a voice-powered AI writing assistant for macOS that converts speech into clean, ready-to-paste text. The Service includes the desktop application, local transcription and cloud based AI processing, account management, and associated features.

3. Account registration

You must create an account to use GhostWriter. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account and use the Service.

4. Subscriptions & payments

GhostWriter offers both free and paid subscription plans. Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) as described at the time of purchase.

  • Free trial - New accounts receive a free trial period. Usage during the trial is subject to the same terms.
  • Billing - Subscription fees are charged in advance through our payment processor. You authorize us to charge the payment method on file.
  • Lifetime plan - A one-time payment option grants access to the Service for as long as it is available. No recurring charges apply. Lifetime access does not guarantee indefinite availability of the Service.
  • Cancellation - You may cancel your subscription at any time from the app's Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no partial refunds are issued. Lifetime plans are non-refundable.
  • Price changes - We may adjust pricing with reasonable advance notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to produce, store, or distribute content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Application.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or impose an unreasonable load on our servers or infrastructure.
  • Share, resell, or sublicense your account or access to the Service.
  • Circumvent usage limits, authentication mechanisms, or any security measures.
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service beyond the intended interface.

6. Intellectual property

The GhostWriter name, logo, application code, website design, and all related materials are the intellectual property of GhostWriter and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without prior written consent.

Content you create using GhostWriter (your transcriptions and text) belongs to you. We claim no ownership over your content.

7. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that transcription output will be perfectly accurate.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GhostWriter shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service.

9. Account termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Account in the Application. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to these terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the Application or via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which GhostWriter operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
